Individual therapy is a joint process between a therapist and a person in therapy. Common goals of therapy can be to inspire change or improve quality of life. People may seek therapy for help with issues that are hard to face alone. Individual therapy is also called therapy, psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, talk therapy, and counseling.
Therapy can help people overcome obstacles to their well-being. It can increase positive feelings, such as compassion and self-esteem. People in therapy can learn skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching goals. Many find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware. Some people even go to ongoing therapy for self-growth.
Using evidence based techniques like the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we teach couples the skills they need to make repair attempts and prevent future conflict, becoming their own relationship expert.
We partner with families by listening and working together with them as they navigate both specific challenges and everyday life. We provide families across the lifespan tools to navigate their intertwined relationships and the challenges they face.
Therapists will help teens establish any false and negative self beliefs they have and how these thoughts and feelings are triggered. Negative patterns and beliefs will be noted. The therapy sessions then focus on how your teen can restructure their thinking to break free from low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. They’ll create new patterns of thoughts to substitute the negative ones.
Your child can learn how to process complex emotions, past traumatic experiences, and communicate better. They are capable of empathy and self expression. We work through a combination of school based therapy models and play therapy models.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a relatively new therapy that research has shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of trauma. It is a phased, focused approach to treating traumatic and other symptoms by reconnecting the client in a safe and measured way to the images, self-thoughts, emotions, and body sensations associated with the trauma, and allowing the natural healing powers of the brain to move toward adaptive resolution.
We offer group therapy for the following topics:
Group Therapy for Teens
Group Therapy for School Age Children
Circle of Security Parenting
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Group: useful for interrupting self-harm, eating disorders and other serious issues.
Yoga Self Esteem Group

WHY THERAPY
The Benefits of Therapy:

Ongoing therapy is to your mental health what going to the gym is to your physical health. You don’t need to be in a debilitating crisis to get support. Therapy can provide relief from symptoms and restore one’s quality of life. It can help you learn how to be yourself again. No one needs to suffer alone. Come see us.

Think of therapy this way:
You are driving your car and suddenly you hear a funny noise. At first, you ignore it and hope it goes away. But over time, the noise starts to get worse and soon you realize you need to repair whatever is wrong. Would you try to fix the car yourself, even though you have no training or experience with car repair? Or would you take it in to a mechanic with years of training and experience and ask them to make the repairs? Most of us would take our car to the mechanic, get the repairs, and move on with our lives.

Why is it that we will trust a mechanic with our car, a contractor with house repairs, or a doctor when we are injured or ill, but we have difficulty trusting a therapist with our thoughts and feelings? Why do some of us avoid seeking professional help when it comes to our mental health and well-being? And if we do go to a therapist, why it is seen as something to keep quiet about and not share with others?
If you think you need help, don’t wait.
Mental health is just as important as physical health, and the two are intimately related. Many people, at some point in their lives, will struggle with their mental health. Research shows that 1 in 5 people will be diagnosed with a mental illness. Unfortunately, people may be discouraged from reaching out to professionals because of the misconceptions and stigmas that exist around therapy and mental health.
Forget the stigma around therapy; if you need help, it is in your best interest to seek assistance from a trained professional. Attending therapy allows you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and helps you form a deep understanding of yourself and what will bring you satisfaction and peace in your life.
If you are in need of a therapist, Evolve Mental Wellness is the place for you.
“Success as a therapist is not found in doing something for the client, but rather being someone for their client.”

OUR
PHILOSOPHY
“We are quick to share our happiness, but struggle with sharing our burdens.” Our passion lies in working collaboratively with you, gaining insight about life's current stress, and working towards living a joyful, healthy, balanced, and fulfilling life. In today's stressful society we are constantly connected, there is not enough time to get everything done, let alone disconnect from the world and find time for yourself. You have to juggle families and careers - spouses and friends - caring for your kids while caring for aging parents. Or maybe you are in the phase of life where you are trying to figure out what to do, where you want to be, and who you want to live life with. This leaves little.... no.... time to take care of yourself! We believe that life should be lived as a community, supporting one another, growing, learning, celebrating!! and sharing in life's ups and downs.
In our sessions we disconnect from the fast paced, demanding world around us and focus on you. It is a period of time where you can speak freely about how you are truly feeling, what the reality of your life is, and trust that you will be heard. How often do you get a period of time where you can sit, disconnect, focus, and work to better yourself? How often are you really heard?
In counseling you get to tell your story, you are the expert in your life. That being said, there are discrepancies in our stories. Do your values align with your daily life? Are you following your passions in life or just daydreaming of them? In our time together we work to help you identify where the dependencies are that might be causing you angst. We are then able to expand your story and incorporate positive change. We may be working to decrease your anxiety, increase joy, find direction- all of which are attainable!
We view our work through a systemic lens. And by that we mean we don't live in a bubble, we are not isolated, we are part of various systems that influence us greatly. We believe that current life situations are influenced not only by today, or the here and now, but also by family, social influences, work environment, history and much more. Our goal is to help you to find peace, contentment, direction and joy all while appreciating and celebrating the impermeable, profoundly influential systems around you.
Confidentiality and genuineness are vital for a trusting and productive therapeutic relationship. We feel that you must find a counselor that fits your personality and work style in order to feel comfortable and make the positive changes that you are aiming for. This is your time, your investment, and you deserve to make it work for you. If you believe we might work well together- our vow as counselors is to be genuine - be ourselves (sometimes sarcastic)- be open, honest and work to make our sessions together productive.
